An extra pudding…

Well yesterday I was not at the farm and thought that because it was a pretty dull day the remaining three mothers to be (Coya, Holly and Peacan Pie) would wait till a more brighter warmer day to have their babies. I was wrong! I received a phone call, just before I was going into my eye appointment, from David at the farm telling me that Peacan Pie had just given birth! I was obviously over the moon that another new and healthy cria had arrived but I was also gutted that I was not there, this was the first birth that I have missed.

David and Mary were unsure of the sex of the cria at this stage as Peacan Pie was being a very protective mother so they left her to get on with it without any interruptions but later rang me with the news of a girl.

As we go through the alphabet when naming our babies, we are now on the letter S, we have named her Sweetie Pie. There is a story behind this name…

Mary and David sold a llama called Bubble to a couple who called all their llamas after puddings and sweets, so her first cria was named Tiramisu. When the couple retired years later and had to sell their llamas we had them back at Catanger. Tiramisu then went on to have Pecan Pie, Brule and Mr Kipling to fit in with our alphabetical naming. Pecan Pie’s first baby did not keep to this theme and had a male called Gus who is now trekking at Nidderdale Llamas. So we thought it might be nice to revert to the pudding theme again although it is difficult to find names that fit the alphabet.. So now introducing Sweetie Pie.
